About Us

The Drettman Ranch sign over entrance gates at the ranch enclosure

The Drettmann Ranch is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Michigan. The town was named “Bellaire” meaning beautiful air, because of the clearness and purity of the atmosphere. You will experience this on your trip to Northwest Michigan.

One of our principal goals is to preserve the property and manage its abundant natural resources. Our hope is for The Ranch to be a refuge for future generations to enjoy this pristine and undeveloped land. As a working ranch, we oversee and work diligently to manage several projects that maintain the property, including (but not limited to):

  • Timber Stand improvement
  • Wildlife Habitat improvement
  • Native Plant projects
  • Whitetail Herd Genetic management
  • Establishment of Grouse habitat
  • Renovations to Create Additional Lodging
  • Trout Stream improvements
  • Morel Mushroom Management
  • And much more on the way!

Come and stay with us and see all we are doing.

Drettmann Ranch Wolcott Creek

Water is the backdrop to the area’s summer activities such as swimming, boating, fishing and beach-combing. They give way in the Fall to driving tours along some of Michigan’s most scenic back roads. In the winter, snowmobile trails, sledding spots and Shanty Creek’s ski slopes provide plenty of fun. Golf swings into action in the spring as the area heats up again. Each August the Village of Bellaire has a fabulous Annual Rubber Ducky Festival downtown with food, arts, crafts, a parade and a Rubber-Ducky race. Other annual activities include September’s Harvest Festival & Scarecrow Extravaganza, a Holiday Gift Fair, Lights of the Holidays and much more. Several of the other local towns and villages also have great events happening year round.
